2013 - A whirl wind of a year

It has been almost a year since I have last posted on my blog, I can't really call my self a blogger.

But it has been a crazy year, the time has flown by.

Over the course of the year, once again I have been travelling far and wide.  From Venice, London, Manchester, additionally having interviews to study Theatre Design all over the country.Edinburgh - Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, Rochester - UCA, Central School of Speech and Drama, Rose Bruford Collage, LIPA - Liverpool, Royal Welsh Collage of Music and Drama. I guess I haven't really been home that much since travelling in America last summer!

After a long time carefully considering each individual university, I have chosen Royal Welsh Collage of Music and Drama, in Cardiff. I'm very excited to start the course in September. It will be a new challenge, that I will undoubtedly enjoy and take every opportunity that comes my way.
This summer I have been accepted onto the National Theatre of Great Britain Set Construction course. This is an exceptional honour and opportunity and it will help me to expand my knowledge of construction and materials, that I will use for the rest of my career. Established in 1956, it was the first youth theatre in the world. I was one of the few selected from 4700 young people that were auditioned nation wide. I am very privileged to have been offered a place; the course will give me the chance to meet future colleagues and make important contacts with influential directors and designers.

Art Foundation - The year has been a roller coaster and a half, from being chucked in the deep end in September, I have worked very hard to get the most I could out of the course. The tutors told us at the beginning that 'You only get out what you put in. ' - I believe I've grasped and applied this  advice to my work during the year. The year has given me the skills and motivation that I needed to gain a place at RWCMD, while growing in confidence throughout.

I have also made a number of close friends that I will truly miss after the completion of the course. I hope that we will stay friends, and keep in regular contact as we all go our separate ways. I would like to thank all of the tutors for their advice and guidance over the year, I greatly appreciate it. Mostly I would like to thank Cath and Brendan for their kindness, compassion and great care for everyone in Fine Art. (The 35 of us in the class!)

During the year also a friend of mine Hannah Nixon I had met a year ago (while on 'Contiki Eastern Escapade' travelling the East Coast in the USA) had come to stay with me for a week. I was a tourist in my own city, it was brilliant!

Today is our Final Major Exhibition at the Univeristy of South Wales (Glamorgan, Trefforest) the finale of the Art Foundation Course. The demanding 9 month course has finally finished, the with an exhibition accumulating all of the various specialist areas: Fine Art, Illustration, Fashion, Photography, Graphics, 3d and Animation. I look forward to  seeing the concluding show that everyone has been working towards.
